The Salone del Mobile
This year I finally visited the Salone del Mobile in Milan, probably the most important fair in the world for homewear and furniture design. As addicted to luxury person I observed the installation of some fashion and luxury brands like Cartier, Missoni, Etro but the one which positively surprised me the most was the one from Louis Vuitton. The luxury french Maison enriched its Objets Nomade Homewear Collection of ten new elements showed at Palazzo Bocconi, that is wondeful too. Here, each piece in turn draws inspiration from elements of travel. For 2017, Louis Vuitton has worked with various designers to present this 10 new items, ranging from Marcel Wanders’ Paravent screen, to the Campana Brothers’ cloud-shaped Bomboca sofa.

All in all, Louis Vuitton’s 2017 Objets Nomades array embodies the spirit of a life well-traveled. Stories of “luxury nomads” and travellers reflected in the “art de voyage” symbol of the vision of the french maison. India Mahdavi and Tokujin Yoshioka are the new designers embracing this project for this year.

Louis Vuitton : a new travel collection
Among the new Objets Nomades that complete the collection of 25 pieces there are also the soft couch of the Campana brothers, inspired by the clouds and Botticelli’s shell that opens for Venus; Atelier Oï’s seat, with leather belts recalling those traditionally used for Louis Vuitton handbags. The modern rocking chair by Marcel Wanders, India’s Mahdavi table, with an inlay inspired by nomadic talismans and the stool by Tokujin Yoshioka.

Each object not only interprets the idea of travel according to a personal point of view but also embodies the values shared by designers and maison: love for the beauty of materials, balance in shapes and proportions, complex craftsmanship and the careful attention to detail. In a collection dedicated to travelers, dreamers and all those with a spirit of adventure.
